Once a forgotten relic, an old house situated along the Wuxi River in Wangcunkou Town, Zhejiang Province, has been given a new lease on life through a thoughtful renovation. This site, historically significant as a Ming and Qing dynasty transport dock and a hub of revolutionary activity, had fallen into disuse, its imposing structure isolating the local community from the adjacent waterfront. The core challenge for the architects was to dismantle this barrier, fostering a renewed bond between the residents and the river.
