The project, completed in 2026, boasts a total area of 1370 square meters and reflects a commitment to cultural architecture, community engagement, and environmental sustainability.

TAUTEM Architecture's design philosophy was deeply influenced by the Mediterranean climate, leading to the incorporation of features that optimize natural light, ventilation, and thermal comfort. The building's aesthetic subtly references the site's rich memory, blending modern elements with historical echoes. Key materials such as wood and concrete were thoughtfully selected to create a warm, inviting, and resilient structure. Santuario de La Salle, a profound architectural endeavor by CAZA Architects, stands as a testament to how sacred spaces can be reimagined to serve as vibrant hubs for their surrounding communities. Completed in 2022, this chapel, situated within the De La Salle University campus in Biñan City, Philippines, transcends conventional religious design by actively seeking to anchor and unite a broader social fabric. This extensive project, covering an area of 13,530 square meters, was conceived with the guiding principle of inclusivity, aiming to create a spiritual home that resonates with and welcomes all members of the university and local community.

The vision for Santuario de La Salle was driven by a fundamental question: how can a religious structure extend its purpose beyond mere worship to foster a deeper sense of communal belonging? CAZA Architects, under the leadership of Carlos Arnaiz, embarked on this project with the goal of answering this very query. The design process involved meticulous consideration of both spiritual significance and functional adaptability, ensuring that the chapel could accommodate diverse needs and activities. This innovative approach challenged traditional notions of religious architecture, striving for a contemporary expression that remains deeply rooted in its context.

The architectural team, which included key figures like Laura del Pino and Kate Sarmiento as lead team members, and Tzu-Yin Wang and Alex Tseng on the design team, focused on integrating the chapel seamlessly into the existing campus environment while making a distinctive statement. Their collaborative efforts resulted in a design that is both grand and intimate, reflecting a nuanced understanding of space and human interaction. The choice of materials and the structural elegance contribute to an atmosphere that encourages contemplation and community engagement. The overarching theme of inclusivity is evident in every detail, from the layout of the interior spaces to the integration of natural light, all designed to enhance the spiritual experience and communal gatherings.

Further contributions to the project's success came from NSI Architecture Planner Consultancy, serving as the primary architectural office, and TCC Construction, the general contractor responsible for bringing the design to life. The engineering aspects were handled by a diverse team of specialists: Engr. Sean Bryner Rey for structural engineering, Engr. Meliton A. Nague and Tochigi-ken Technologies International Inc. for mechanical systems, and ATM Engineering for electrical work. JMRT Engineering, led by Jose Marius R. Tuazon, managed the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) aspects, while 110 Consultants Inc. provided expert project management. This collective expertise ensured the realization of a complex and ambitious architectural vision.

The Santuario de La Salle represents a pioneering effort in religious architecture, demonstrating how thoughtful design can transform a sacred space into a dynamic community asset.
