In the quiet town of Turís, Spain, a historical residence known as “The Doctor’s House,” steeped in familial memories, is undergoing a profound transformation. This architectural project, spearheaded by Jose Costa, aims to modernize the dwelling while honoring its rich past. With a completion target set for 2025, this 345-square-meter property represents a significant endeavor to adapt a cherished family home for contemporary living.

Details of the Architectural Revitalization Project

The story of The Doctor’s House begins in 1926 when it was first constructed. Two decades later, in 1941, Nilda’s grandparents made it their home, renting the property before eventually purchasing it. A pivotal moment in the house's history occurred shortly after its acquisition when the family undertook its first major expansion, extending the structure towards the expansive backyard. This outdoor space, once directly connected to fertile farmlands, provided a tranquil escape and a strong link to the rural character of Turís. Now, under the meticulous guidance of architect Jose Costa and his design team, Ana Aguado, Belén de las Heras, and Eduardo Schiebek, the house is being reimagined for the 21st century. Javier Betancor serves as the building engineer, with Edibe Arquitectura y Construcción managing the construction. The renovation focuses on a blend of traditional materials like wood and brick with modern elements such as glass, to create a harmonious and functional living space. The project, located in Turís, Spain, emphasizes the preservation of the home's character while infusing it with renewed vitality, ensuring it continues to serve as a beacon of family heritage and architectural evolution.
