In the tranquil embrace of Pawnanagar, India, the year 2024 marked the completion of an extraordinary residential project: the Lake House, conceptualized and brought to life by the esteemed architectural firm Mazumdar Bravo. This architectural marvel, spanning a generous 7500 square feet, is not merely a house but a meticulously curated experience designed to immerse its inhabitants in the unparalleled beauty of its locale. The project team, led by Udayan Mazumdar and Blanca Bravo Reyes, with Gayatri Khedkar, envisioned a structure that would respectfully recede into the landscape, allowing the breathtaking panorama of Pawna Lake, flanked by the ancient Tikona and Tung forts, to take center stage. The strategic placement of the house, immediately following the crest of a hill and shaded by a magnificent fig tree, was a conscious decision to prioritize the natural setting. From certain vantage points, the dwelling appears almost as a hidden gem, its full architectural presence gradually unfolding as one approaches the lakeside, where its height and grandeur are fully unveiled. The construction, featuring concrete as a primary material, reflects a commitment to durability and a minimalist aesthetic that further enhances its integration with the rugged yet beautiful terrain. Landscape architecture by Hemali Landscape Studio (Hemali Samant, Mahek Malaviya) further integrates the structure into its surroundings, with structural engineering provided by Rajeev Shah & Associates and MEP engineering by Hydrotech Consultants. United Projects served as the general contractor, with Mahalaxmi Gardeners handling landscape contracting. This collaborative effort has resulted in a dwelling that offers both a sanctuary and a viewing platform for nature's majesty.
